GUITAR & BACKING VOCALS

A combination of 2 things got me into playing guitar I think, watching Queen at Wembley '86 on TV & thinking how cool Brian May sounded & looked with his big curly hair & curly guitar lead. (Imagine having all those people listening to your every note. The guitar seemed THE instrument to learn. People worshipped it.) & watching my Uncle Colin sit & fingerpick Beatles songs on his acoustic guitar in his house, effortlessly picking vocal melody lines out of chord shapes, 2 things happening at once. This was truly magical a young me thought, & months practicing on an old acoustic guitar soon followed.
Then it happened. After reading a guitar magazine interview with their guitarist, Nuno Bettencourt, in 1991 I bought 'Pornograffiti' by the band Extreme. What followed was a constant onslaught of guitar playing and songs of which I'd never heard the like before. 'Can one man really play a guitar that fast?' , I thought, picking my jaw up after hearing the solo to 'Get the funk out', still one of favourite guitar solos to this day.
I then got into guitar Instrumentalists Joe Satriani, Steve Vai & Paul Gilbert (then in the band Mr Big, now a solo instrumentalist himself), following each of their albums with great interest, and going to see all of them on every tour in England to witness them live. Also bands like Guns n Roses (Slash is a legend), Bon Jovi (we all went there, it's ok to admit it-honest!), Aerosmith, Terrorvision, Ugly Kid Joe & the like were soon in my CD collection.
So, here I am in Jenna's Revenge with 3 of the nicest, talented people I've met. I love writing and performing with these guys. It's so easy.
I've taken on recording, producing & mixing responsibilities for our music, with 2009's 'Everything' the first album I ever recorded & produced, all from my house, followed by ‘Top hotel’ in 2010. Very proud of that. I'm also very lucky to have a beautiful wife & daughter, who both love listening to and enjoy coming to watch Jenna's play, & without their support it would all be meaningless.
